新时期共产党员的楷模孔繁森，更是一位一尘不染两袖清风的好干部。这位模范干部收留了三个震灾中认识的孤儿。由于生活拮据，他到血库要求献血。在外人眼里，一个共产党的中高级干部生活如此清贫真难以想像。  

Kong Fansen, the role model of Communists in the new era, was a distinguished cadre with spotless and uncorrupted quality. This model cadre took in the three orphans whom he had met in an earthquake. Living with less, he went to the blood bank to ask for blood donation. In the eyes of outsiders, it was hard to imagine that a middle and high-ranking cadre of the Communist Party could live such a poor life.

1993年，妻子到西藏探亲，去的路费由自己筹措。由于看病，妻子将返程的路费花光，只好向孔繁森要钱，他东挪西借才勉强凑了500元，而回程机票当时是每个人800元。妻子不忍心让丈夫为难，就自己找熟人借了一些。  

In 1993, his wife went to Tibet to visit relatives, and the traveling expenses were raised by herself. Due to the medical treatment, all money for the return trip was spent, so she had to ask Kong Fansen for money. He managed with an effort and borrowed all around only to raise 500 yuan, but the return ticket was 800 yuan per person at that time. His wife couldn’t bear to make her husband feel awkward, so she borrowed some from her acquaintances.  

孔繁森连续六年获得五号士兵  

回到济南后，他妻子去看上大学的女儿，女儿一见面就对妈妈说：“学校让交学杂费，我写信给爸爸，爸爸让我跟您要。”他妻子一听，眼泪刷刷地流了下来——自己身上剩下的钱，连回家乡聊城的车票还不够，哪里还有钱给女儿交学费。  

After returning to Jinan, his wife went to visit their daughter in college. As soon as they met, the daughter said to the mother: “The college asked me to pay tuition and fees. I wrote to my father, and he told me to ask you for it”. When his wife heard this, tears streamed down her face—the money left was not even enough for the ticket back to her hometown Liaocheng, and there was no money left for her daughter’ tuition.  

孔繁森把工资中的相当大一部分用于帮忙有困难的群众，平时根本就没有攒下几个钱。他给群众买药，扶贫济困时出手大方，少则百十元钱，多则上千元。他因车祸牺牲后，人们在他的遗体上找到的现金只有8元6角，在场的每个人都流了泪。  

Kong Fansen spent a considerable part of his salary on helping the people in difficulties. Thus, he hardly saved much money at all. He bought medicine for ordinary people, and was generous in helping the poor, ranging from at least a hundred yuan or so to a thousand yuan. After he died in a car accident, the cash that people found on his body was only eight yuan and sixty fen. Everyone who was on the spot shed tears.
